Dr. Davin E. Brown

Dr. Davin E. Brown is the Vice President of Student Services at Sacramento City College.  She has 20 years of higher education experience and has served in the role of VPSS since July 2019.  An unapologetic equity minded leader dedicated to serving historically underrepresented student communities, Dr. Brown has successfully developed and implemented high touch programs that provide comprehensive services to students as they navigate their college experience.  Prior to Sacramento City College, she served as Dean of Student Success for Folsom Lake College, and the Director of Student Engagement and Outreach at Sacramento State.  In addition to her leadership within the California Community College and California State University systems, Dr. Brown has also worked for the University of California system as well as private institutions and educational non-profit organizations.  To compliment her to administrative background, Dr. Brown has robust instructional experience having served as part time faculty to Sacramento State, Concordia University and Drexel University where she taught courses with a focus on educational equity, diversity, inclusion and research.Dr. Brown’s academic preparation includes earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from California State University, San Bernardino, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University. She is a member of multiple professional and service organizations including The Village Demands Statewide Coalition on Black American Affairs, as well as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She has one son who is currently a sophomore at Morehouse College and enjoys reading, cooking and traveling in her spare time.
