Project Leader Position
Valley Vision is seeking a highly motivated Project Leader responsible for managing and executing on Digital Equity and Inclusion projects that will increase equitable access and use of technology across the Sacramento region. Valley Vision is a regional leader in digital
inclusion, innovation and broadband infrastructure projects, and currently leads the Capital Region Coalition for Digital Inclusion, the Connected Capital Area Broadband Consortium funded by the California Public Utilities Commission, as well as projects funded by the California Emerging Technology Fund and several other related foundation-funded projects.
Our work strives to advocate for the deployment of broadband infrastructure to ensure broadband access for all; encourage households to sign up for available services, including promotion of low cost internet options; expand access to digital devices; and increase digital literacy and skills among residents. We achieve this by researching gaps, opportunities, and trends; broadening community awareness of gaps and needs; identifying and promoting available resources; and linking solution providers with opportunity.
The Project Leader will report to the Managing Director and work alongside a leadership team at Valley Vision. The position will manage multiple projects, supervise other staff, develop and maintain relationships with external partners, and support business development in the Digital Equity realm.
Typical duties include:
Project Management: Managing projects, including implementation, progress,
budgets and contracts, people, and time
Community and Partner Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders as well as engage in the community as a representative of Valley
Vision
Business Development: identify new projects and funding sources and solicit funds
including through grant applications, in coordination with the CEO and other staff
Conduct Research and Advance Policy: stay abreast of relevant policy actions,
conduct research to support goals, and participate in regional and statewide policy
networks
Evaluate and Communicate Program Impact: Measure success and promote the
program through effective written, and verbal means as well as public presentation
The Project Leader is a full-time, exempt position. The position is based in Sacramento.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding executive skill and judgment in overseeing the delivery of complex projects, budgets, and staff and consultant teams involving multiple partners. Strong communication and organizational skills are a must. The ideal candidate will have not less than 10 years of proven leadership capability working in business, agency, or nonprofit environments with an ability to be adaptive when delivering in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Qualifying skills and characteristics include, but are not limited to:
-Knowledge and expertise in the field of digital equity and inclusion -Knowledge of state and federal policy and funding initiatives and source -Experienced in broadband deployment, access, adoption, policy, technology, or investment strategies
Exceptional skills in:
o Project Management
o Budget Management
o Personnel management
o Partner cultivation and coalition building
o Written and oral communication
-Proven ability in fund development
-Cultural competency and ability to engage hard to reach communities
-Track record of engagement with executive-level public, private, and nonprofit sector
leaders
-Adaptable, flexible, and a creative problem solver.
Compensation:
-Annual salary $80,000, depending on experience
