2023 COA – RFI 186993 Bottoms up Load Forecasting
Description:
The PG&E Short Term Electric Supply team is conducting and RFI for a short-term, bottom-up load forecasting demonstration technology assessment.
PG&E defines a short-term, bottom-up load forecasting as utilization of a model that incorporates aggregated smart meter data to inform a day-ahead load forecast that will be utilized to support bidding of PG&E bundled customer load into the CAISO markets.
The purpose of the pilot is to evaluate the use of granular customer meter data to forecast PG&E bundled customer load for the PG&E area. The bundle customer load forecast needs to be hourly for the next 7 days and updated daily based on the latest weather conditions. The core data will be the Settlement Quality Meter Data (e.g., T+62-day lag) and available customer smart meter data (e.g., T+3-day lag).
