Dr. Nkiruka Catherine Ohaegbu serves on the Government Relations and Public Affairs Team with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), where she advocates for equity in clean energy and sustainability, enhancing and sustaining public affairs partnerships, programs, and government relations outreach strategy for a variety of PG&E’s initiatives. Prior to joining PG&E, she served as a Business Loan Specialist at the US Small Business Administration, working with businesses recovering from economic loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Ohaegbu previously served as a gubernatorial appointee at the Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency, filling various roles and managing the development and implementation of a variety of special projects. She also served in several positions in the Office of Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. including special assistant to the Governor and First Lady.
Dr. Ohaegbu obtained her doctorate degree from Georgia State University where she conducted research exploring access to resources for minority businesses. She received her MBA from California State University Sacramento, and her BA degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University. Dr. Ohaegbu was also a 2017 Fair Housing and Social Inclusion Fellow certified by the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Ohaegbu prides herself on being of service to her community in both her professional and private life. In addition to serving on the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board, she is a board member of the YMCA of Greater California and the Sacramento State Alumni Association. She also serves on the Leadership Council of Metro Edge. She is an alumni of the Nehemiah Emerging Leaders Program (2020) and currently serves on NELP’s Connections Committee. Dr. Ohaegbu is a member of the 2021 class of Leadership Sacramento and Leadership California CIT 2021. She was awarded Sacramento Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 Award, Diversity MBA’s Top 100 Under 50 Emerging Leaders for 2020, and Sac Cultural Hub’s Exceptional Women of Color Excellence Award.
