Chantel is responsible for developing, executing, and measuring the external affairs operating plan, multi-year strategy and human capital plan. In her role, Chantel also handles local government relations and sharing the external affairs story internally and externally.
Chantel joined Blue Shield in 2019 after having served as a Community Engagement Representative for SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utility District) for four years. Chantel is a passionate advocate for causes that change peoples’ lives and has held various roles in the public, private and nonprofit sectors to support that mission. Prior to her role at SMUD, Chantel served in multiple roles in the California State Capitol including the California State Assembly, Senate and Lt. Governor’s Office. She also has served as a professional advocate for foster youth rights and to provide equal access to higher education for all Californians.
